Welcome to St John the Evangelist Church in Lostock Gralam Parish.

Our Mission Statement is short and to the point: “Love God and Serve Others” and as a congregation we strive, within our individual lives, and as a community to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and play an active role in our local community.

St John the Evangelist's has been at the heart of the community of Lostock Gralam since it was built in 1844 and, through good times and bad, we have continued to try and be at the centre of community life as we strive to live out Christ’s love for our neighbours.

As a worshipping community we welcome everyone regardless of age or background; You may be a regular visitor or may be not; you may have a strong faith or perhaps are just exploring; you may be on your own or perhaps with others; you may want to come to chat, or just sit quietly or light a candle in a moment of quiet reflection (and Open Church on Tuesday Mornings are a great opportunity for that).

St John the Evangelist is not a listed building and is no architectural gem, but it has been an important place for people who have been baptised, married and attended family or friends’ funerals. Our building is a place of worship, but it is also a place where we offer hospitality and hold events that serve both the church and the community.

Wherever you are on your life pilgrimage you are welcome to share that moment with us.

Coffee, tea and toast and the opportunity to chat or just to spend some quiet time in the church - to light a candle, for private prayer and quiet reflection.
