Stretton Parva: St John the Baptist

Welcome to the Church of St John the Baptist, Stretton Parva. We serve the small village of Stretton Parva (otherwise known as Little Stretton) which is a small village of approximately 92 people living within approximately 36 households, situated in the Harborough district of Leicestershire. It lies approximately 5.53 miles (8.90 km) southeast of the city of Leicester. The parish includes the deserted medieval village of Great Stretton (or Stretton Magna, a scheduled monument that is located 0.7 miles (1.1 km) to the west of the village.

The church of Little Stretton has historically been a chapel of ease served from the ecclesiastical parish of St John the Baptist, King's Norton. Parts of the church date back to the late 12th century. We are located within the Gaulby Group of around 5 churches and within the Launde Deanery Minster Community.

We have occasional services, more frequent services are held at the other churches within the Gaulby Group (see the newsletter available via this page) and elsewhere within the Launde Deanery Minster Community (at Welcome to the Launde Deanery Minster Community Website – see Service Times tab).
