About Us

Beacon Trinity became a single parish in 2019, joining together the parishes of St. James Ashwick, Holy Trinity Binegar and All Saints Oakhill. We retained all three buildings as parish churches and all three remain in regular use.

The Parish of Beacon Trinity serves the villages of Oakhill, Ashwick and Bineger/Gurney Slade and the surrounding small communities, a population of approximately 1800 people. We are in the Shepton Mallet Deanery.

Sat high on the Mendip Hills, it is a rural community with many dairy farms and an increasing number of small businesses.

There is one  school, Oakhill Church School, a member of the Bath and Wells Diocesan Multi Academy Trust.

We have two pubs in Binegar/Gurney Slade and two in Oakhill and a local garage in Oakhill.

There are no other churches in the villages.

We also have a meeting room in Ashwick and a 2 acre field in Binegar where we recently planted a community orchard and a wildlife hedgerow.

The parish is a served by a half-time stipendiary Priest in Charge and a Self Supporting assistant priest.
