Rural Daneside Churches

The United Benefice of Marton, Siddington with Capesthorne, Eaton with Hulme Walfield and Swettenham is known as the Rural Daneside Churches.

Situated to the north of Congleton and its River Dane, in east Cheshire, the churches all have very individual characters. Some are based in traditional farming areas and others include new estates where many of the houses have been purchased by people who have recently moved into the parishes.

Whichever church you choose to come to, be sure that there will be a warm welcome.

Our churches

Safeguarding

Our parishes are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officers (PSO).

The Chester Diocese’s safeguarding pages (see link below) contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the relevant church PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor.

The contact details for each PSO can be found on the individual church website where you will also find information about what to do if a child or adult is at immediate risk of significant harm, or you require out of hours advice.

The Diocesan Safeguarding Team can be contacted at [email protected] or on 01928 718834 (option 4)

Out of Hours Support: The Diocese of Chester partners with Thirtyone:eight and you can access their Safeguarding Helpline if the Diocesan Safeguarding Team is unavailable - this also includes any safeguarding queries outside of office hours on weekdays and weekends. Thirtyone:eight can be contacted on 0303 003 1111.

In the case of an emergency: If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police on 999 and/or your local authority Children or Adults Service.

Helplines: Safe Spaces England and Wales - Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service, providing a confidential, personal and safe space for anyone who has been abused by someone in the Church or as a result of their relationship with the Church of England, the Catholic Church in England and Wales or the Church in Wales.
