South Lancing and Sompting

The Parish of South Lancing and Sompting includes three churches (St Michael and All Angels, Lancing; St Mary's Sompting and St Peter's Sompting). The parish extends from the sea in the south, along the coast to neighbouring Shoreham Beach and then right up into the South Downs National Park above the historic St Mary's Church.

Join us for St Michael's Christmas Fair on Saturday 7 December in St Michael's Church Hall, South Street, Lancing from 10 am - 1 pm. There will be lots of great items to buy, you can try your luck on our bottle stall, tombola and raffle, and enjoy some delicious refreshments.
The church will also be hosting a centenary exhibition of newspaper stories from the past 100 years.

Father Christmas will be there so don't miss out!

Our centenary celebrations conclude with a visit from the Bishop of Chichester, Dr Martin Warner to mark the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the church.

Dr Warner’s predecessor, Bishop Winfrid Burrows, led the service of consecration on 5 December 1924 in a packed church where no spare seat was available. During the service the altar was blessed and prayers said at the belfry, font and chancel.

Messy Church is a form of church for all ages that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality. We have a range of activities for people of all ages all based around a theme for the session, join together for a celebration time and finish with a shared meal.

The session begins at 3.15 pm with tea/coffee or juice and we usually finish around 5 pm. There is no charge for these sessions but any donations are welcome.

You do need to book your space using the church website (booking open now).
