In the Gospels, Jesus shares a simple yet profound story that perfectly captures what we hope our community of churches is all about: The Parable of the Sower.
He describes a sower scattering seeds across different types of ground. Some seeds fall on the footpath and are eaten by birds; some fall on rocky soil and wither; others are choked by thorns. But some fall on good soil, where they take deep root, grow, and produce a harvest beyond expectation.
Cultivating Good Soil
Life throws all kinds of terrain our way. There are times when we feel like the rocky ground—overwhelmed, shallow, or just plain tired. There are seasons when the "thorns" of daily worries, stress, and busyness threaten to choke out our peace and joy.
As a Parish, our churches aren't meant to be clubs for perfect people. Instead, we see ourselves as a community of gardeners. Together, we are here to help cultivate the good soil in each other’s lives.
We listen and support when the ground feels hard.
We clear the rocks by sharing our burdens and praying for one another.
We celebrate the growth when faith takes root and brings joy, kindness, and hope to our wider community.
