Pimperne, Stourpaine and Durweston with Bryanston

The Benefice has three parishes, each with its own character but with a growing awareness of togetherness. It lies to the north and west of the town of Blandford Forum in the beautiful county of Dorset, home to the Jurassic Coast Heritage Site. The Parishes of Stourpaine and Durweston are situated on opposite banks of the River Stour at the confluence with the much smaller River Iwerne. Bryanston is to the SE of Durweston and the larger village of Pimperne lies to the North East of Stourpaine in its own pretty valley, carved in the chalk downs by the Pimperne Brook. The total population is 2,000-3,000.

In 2021, the Benefice informally joined with the parishes of Tarrant Gunville, Tarrant Hinton and Tarrant Monkton.  This partnership was part of a reorganisation due to the retirement of other ordained ministers.  The churches have started working well together and may well form a legal entity at the end of the 3 year 'trial' period.   However with the departure of Revd Belinda Marflitt,  the Benefice is now itself in an interregnum and could be subject to further reorganisation.

On Monday the 26th September 2022, in a simple act Bishop Karen licensed David Miell as the Priest in charge and Henriët Miell as the half time Associate priest for the PSD benefice for a limited time to July 2024. This means that the PSD benefice is no longer in an interregnum. David and Henriët were also licensed to the Chase Benefice and the benefice of Sixpenny Handley with Gussage St Andrew & Pentridge for the same time to July 2024. There are many things to do in this short time and we will try to give as much support as we possibly can in the parishes we now have responsibilities for.
