'God is Light; In him there is no darkness...' 1 John 1:5
Welcome to the churches in our Wareham Church family
Within Dorset’s beautiful Isle of Purbeck, each of our five churches has its own distinctive style and liturgies. Together, we celebrate the light of Christ as we share the peace, harmony and assurance that he offers.
Our five churches are:
The Priory Church of Lady St Mary, Wareham: the largest church within our group, we are a friendly and welcoming community in the heart of the town. We seek to grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ, both through our gathered Sunday worship and through various midweek groups and activities.
St Martin on the Walls, Wareham: here, a small, friendly congregation gathers for worship each Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in our lovely Saxon church on the north walls of the town with its near life-size effigy of Lawrence of Arabia.
Sandford St Martin’s Church: a lively and welcoming all-age community, discovering what it means to know and follow Jesus. We seek to grow together through our Sunday worship, midweek groups and activities.
St Nicholas Church, Arne: a rural church in the beautiful surroundings of the RSPB Reserve at Arne which overlooks Poole Harbour. A close-knit congregation gathers for traditional worship twice a month in the beauty of this peaceful setting.
St John the Evangelist Church, East Holme: a rural church where a small community gathers for worship twice a month in this beautiful and tranquil setting.
