St John the Baptist

The Church of St John the Baptist is Church of England and within the Diocese of Winchester and is part of the Arle Valley Benefice.

It has been the Parish Church of New Alresford since 1851. However, we know from the Domesday Book that there was a church in New Alresford soon after the Norman Conquest. Until 1851 it was part of the Parish of Old Alresford.

St John’s serves the whole community of New Alresford.

St Mary's

The present Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Old Alresford, constructed of brick and flint dates from the 18th century. The Church appears in the Doomsday census and there is much to suggest that there was a place of worship on the site from the 9th century.

The Church was declared to be of special architectural and historic interest in 1956 and was listed grade II*.

In 2004 the Parish was united with All Saints, Bighton, St. Peter’s Ovington and St. John’s, New Alresford.

St Peter’s

Ovington has St Peter’s church, a 150 year old Victorian construction with flint walls, tiled roof and a distinctive oak bell tower with a spire. It is situated alongside the site of the original 13th century church of which the west arch remains.
