Blackburn St Stephen's - Little Harwood

Welcome to the website of Blackburn St Stephen Church in Little Harwood.

WE LOVE JESUS – WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBOURS – WE RESPECT DIVERSITY IN LITTLE HARWOOD

St Stephen's church is a worshipping Christian community in the Little Harwood area of north Blackburn and we extend a warm welcome to all.  Our building dates back to the late 1800's and is dedicated to St Stephen the first Christian martyr whose story is told in the beautiful stained glass windows inside the church building (you can read his story in the Bible in the Acts of the Apostles chapters 5 and 6).  As  the only Christian church in Little Harwood we welcome people from all Christian denominations, those who have no connection with any church and those who would just simply like to find out more about the Christian faith to worship with us.  We are proud of our links with our church school and our community.

Please contact us using our Get In Touch page, or use the link below, with comments, suggestions or stories or information you may have of your time at St Stephens.

Following the community photo exhibitions at Blackburn Library and St Stephen's Church in Little Harwood in September, you are invited to a special Remembrance Sunday photo exhibition on 8 November 2026.

The church will hold our Remembrance Sunday service at 10:30am, with hymns, readings, a short talk and the Act of Remembrance. It will then be followed by a short procession/walk to the historic Clock Tower in Little Harwood. Please join us at St Stephen's Church, Little Harwood.

The church will remain open between 12pm and 4pm, with photo exhibitions on the theme of "memorial", including extra photos we didn't have a chance to show last time in September, such as old St Stephen's School photos.

All are welcome, regardless of faith; no booking is required, and refreshments will be served. This is a one-day-only free event hosted by St Stephen's Church to serve our local community in Little Harwood. Please join us as we remember Little Harwood's history and heritage, particularly during times of war and conflict - We will remember them. The church will also have space for you to reflect, light a candle and pray.

We are also liaising with St Stephen's School at Little Harwood to extend the exhibition to the school in the week following Remembrance Sunday.
