The people of Wymondham have been coming to the Abbey for more than 900 years – for public worship and private prayer. As well as all the weekly services, thousands of christenings, weddings and funerals have happened here, so the very walls are soaked in prayer. They echo with the hopes and sorrows and joys and gratitude of the generations.
The building is strikingly beautiful and historically important, so a popular visitor destination. It’s also well-used for concerts and other events. But first and foremost it is a church, a place of worship and prayer. At times it is peaceful, almost silent. At other times it is lively and noisy.
Do visit our website, which will give you a good flavour of what we believe and what we do here. We look forward to welcoming you.
