Milestones reached in exciting major restoration project

The chancel tiles were removed in June to reveal an 'interesting' sight causing the architect, engineer and contractor some head scratching moments, as the true scale of problems with common and principal rafters was laid bare. Thankfully the professional team was able to produce an effective solution whilst reducing the financial impact of the extra work required.

A recent report from the architect provides this statement about the work:

"....the decisions taken have been carefully considered, trialled, and have significantly reduced the loss of historic fabric while strengthening the roof in providing longevity and sustainably to the repairs."

The newly rebuilt buttress is almost complete and looks magnificent.
