The Annunciation of the Lord

Occurring
for 30 mins
Venue
Matlaske St Peter
Address
The Street Matlaske Norwich, NR11 7AQ, United Kingdom

On Wednesday 25th March at 9am, we gather at Matlaske Church for a quiet and reflective Eucharist to celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation—the day the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her she would become the mother of Jesus . This beautiful moment, when a young woman said "yes" to God's extraordinary plan, marks the beginning of our salvation and reminds us of the power of faithful obedience.

This year, our service carries an additional significance. On this very same day, at Canterbury Cathedral, the Most Reverend Sarah Mullally will be installed as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury—the first woman to hold this historic office in the Church's 2,000-year history . The Feast of the Annunciation was chosen deliberately for this enthronement, linking Mary's faithful response to God's call with Archbishop Sarah's own vocation to serve the Church and the nation .

During our service, we will hold Archbishop Sarah in our prayers as she begins her public ministry, and we give thanks for her life of service—as a nurse, as a bishop, and now as our Primate . As Mary carried Christ into the world, so too is the Archbishop called to point us towards him. All are welcome to join us at 9am for this special morning as we celebrate the Annunciation and pray for God's blessing upon our new Archbishop.

Matlaske St Peter

St Peter’s church in Matlaske lies in the middle of the rural area to the south of Holt. And even though this small village is only 6 miles away, it feels like a different world; especially on a sunny day.
