Friends of Wiveton Church

The Friends of Wiveton Church was formed about eight years ago, since when it has raised many thousands of pounds for the preservation of the fabric of the beautiful Grade 1 Listed medieval Church of St Mary Wiveton.

The emphasis of all our fundraising is to entertain, inform and educate participants and bring the village together, while at the same time having fun.

Examples of recent hugely successful events include a sell-out talk on Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic expeditions, a marvellous organ recital given by the head organist at Ely Cathedral, which involved audience participation, and a Wonderful Wiveton Wander in which some of the beautiful, interesting and varied gardens were open to the public.

In the summer of 2019 a roof timber collapsed in the Chancel and the Friends of Wiveton Church have been working hard to raise the £200,000 required to repair the roof. As soon as the pandemic is over a new, exciting programme of events will be launched!
