Lichen Survey of the Churchyard
Members of the Shropshire and Staffordshire Lichen Group and others from the British Lichen Society spent a long and happy day at St Cuthbert's Church on 24th July from 10am - 2pm surveying the lichens in our very beautiful churchyard. Over sixty different samples of lichen were identified, with other samples being sent away for identification. They loved being in the churchyard and talked enthusiastically to about twenty people from the village who came to see what was happening! It really was a case of enjoying the abundance of secret lives in the churchyard and we are very grateful to them all for coming and sharing their passion and expertise with us. Thank you to Anne Gledhill for organising both the event, and the refreshments.
A big thank you to The National Lottery Heritage Fund @HeritageFundUK and the Lottery players for making this event possible.
