About Us

Welcome to St. Peter's Cound.  This year we are Celebrating 800 Years of Ministry at our Church

Although probably dating from much earlier, 1216 is the date of our first recorded rector, on a list near the font, and the church has been in continuous use ever since.  2016 will feature a series of events, raising awareness of this beautiful church  in the lovely Shropshire countryside.  The programme is designed to interest all age groups, and will include displays, music, history and exhibitions.

We have created a Timeline Board  tracing the history of the church throughout the centuries and throughout the year there are various events.

Our church is open during daylight hours, and opposite a wonderful  locally well known  snowdrop walk along Cound Brook, and  on two weekends in February we  welcome anyone who wants to visit St. Peter's particularly if they have done the  walk, with refreshments on sale  in the Guildhall next door.  In late spring we have a lovely Bluebell Walk at a different location near the church.

The autumn 800th anniversary events will include a wedding and baptism display on 10th and 11th September, with a special Family Service on the 11th at 11am  celebrating all those happy occasions at the church down through the years.
