ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, YARKHILL, CHURCH ORGAN

The organ was installed in 1868 by Bishop and Starr of London, following the church’s major restoration. It is unaltered and is an interesting instrument of its time, a rarity as it is still effective and has remained in use for over 150 years.

Unfortunately, the timber floor which has supported the instrument since its installation is failing and movement is putting the organ case under stress and the instrument at risk of damage or eventual collapse.

Our plan is for the organ to be safely dismantled and relocated to the opposite end of the Nave (the northwest, adjacent to the tower) to allow continued use of this historic instrument. The damaged timber flooring can then be properly assessed for repair and restoration.

The basic cost to dismantle and relocate the organ will be in the region of £4,500.00.
