Our much-loved Fish & Chip Quiz Night returns to Rodney Stoke, bringing together friends, neighbours and newcomers for an evening of fun and fundraising. As usual, there will be two rounds of topical quiz questions, with a well-earned break in the middle for freshly delivered, piping hot fish & chips from Tuckers in Cheddar.

Prizes are, of course, on offer – a tub of chocolates for the winners, and the traditional wooden spoons for those who come last. And no village event would be complete without the ubiquitous raffle!

Please remember that every penny raised goes towards improving our church hall and completing urgent repairs on our 12th-century church. Our church is an 800-year-old treasure at the heart of the village. Keeping it open and in good condition is a constant task, whether that means conserving the ancient stonework, repairing the roof balustrades, or caring for the bells that ring out across Rodney Stoke. The village hall too, as the hub of local life, needs steady care and investment to support the many activities it hosts throughout the year.

By joining us, you’ll not only enjoy a good evening in great company, but also help to preserve two much-loved village institutions for the future.

This event always sells out quickly – so please book your table early to avoid disappointment!

We invite you to join us in St. Andrew’s Church, Cheddar on Sunday 1st November at 3pm, for a special service in which we remember those we have lost.
We do this at this time of the year, as 1st November is All Saints’ Day, and by “Saints” we mean all those who have wanted to live lives that honour God and have gone before us, including the loved ones we may have lost.
There will be a list at the door as you enter the church, on which the name of the person you are remembering can be written, or you are welcome to email the office on [email protected] by Wednesday 28th October.
After the service there will be the opportunity to chat over a cup of tea or coffee

This is an advance notice of a significant event that will be happening in the Benefice in the Autumn and New Year. We will holding an Alpha Course in Cheddar Village Hall. An Alpha Course, which you may have already heard of, is an opportunity to explore the basics of our Christian faith. It is a tried and tested course having been held in many places in this country and around the world.

This is an opportunity for our church members to bring friends who would like to know more about our faith and indeed anyone who is interested.
We will be meeting on Sunday evenings, with 6 sessions starting on 1st November and then 5 further sessions from 10th January. The sessions in January will include a Saturday away day at Bagley Baptist church. Each session will start with a meal, followed by a film on the subject for the evening and then opportunity for discussion.

There will be further details in September but in the meantime please note the dates, consider joining the course and bringing a friend. Above all we need to be praying for all aspects of this venture.

Stuart.

On Tuesday 11th November St Leonard's will be holding a Remembrance Service at 10.45 am.

Children and Staff from Draycott and Rodney Stoke First School will be joining the service.

All are welcome

A service for everyone, in which they make a traditional (Scandinavian) Christmas decoration, based on an orange.
