In the intimate space of our Lady Chapel, we gather to contemplate the events of Holy Week using words, music and silence.

Remembering Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, our service begins with the blessing and distributing of palm crosses. The tone shifts away from joyful triumph as we hear the story of Christ's passion and crucifixion and we enter into Holy week.

A quiet reflective service to end the day

This is an intimate service where we remember how Jesus washed the feet of his friends. Foot washing is part of the evening's liturgy but is entirely optional. We also share Communion together and leave the service in silence as we remember the first disciples going with Jesus to the garden of Gethsemane. There is an opportunity to spend some time in quiet prayer following the service either in the church or in the prayer shed (next to the church)

This service invites us to reflect and remember the events around the death of Jesus. There is music sung by the choir and some congregational hymns interspersed with readings from the Bible and periods of silence.

This service begins while it is still dark and we light the fire and tell some of the stories that shape our faith. As the dawn breaks we celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
The service takes place outside. It will be cold and the grass is usually wet. You might like to bring a chair to sit on. At the end of the service we carry the Easter light into the church where we bless the Easter garden and then make our way to the hall for breakfast.

The Easter light from the dawn service is carried to Christ Church where we light the Easter candle, bless the Easter Garden and celebrate with joyful hymns and music the most important day ever. We also gather around the font to renew our baptismal vows and the service ends with an egg hunt in the churchyard.

We are so lucky that this year, Easter Sunday is the first Sunday of the month when we have our traditional choral evensong service.
This service is from the Book of Common Prayer and there will be some hymns to sing. The responses, psalm and anthem are sung by our outstanding choir.
