10.30am Sunday service
This service takes place live in church and is open to all, as well as being live-streamed (see separate event post for details about this). The service includes in-person prayers, reading, sermon, and music, while some content, such as the children's talk, may be in a video format.
To help everyone feel comfortable as they return to church, we are keeping different areas of the church free for the following;
- those who would like to sit with space around them and no singing
- those who would like to sit with space around them but they are singing
- everybody else!
Live-streamed service, every Sunday 10.30am
Wherever you are is where this service will be. 'Tune-in' to watch the live-stream service from your own home and know that God is with you in that place.
Most of our church community are now back in church for services, but we continue to live-stream our 10:30 service, so please do join us online if not in person.
If you are unable to 'tune-in' at the time you will be able to find recordings of it on our webpage after the event. http://www.sjyeovil.org.uk/resources/videos
Our junior church meets every Sunday except for the 1st Sunday in the month when the children join us for a service in church. We have groups for the following ages.
Scramblers: 3 years old – Reception
Climbers: School Years 1 to 3
Explorers: Years 4 to 6
Pathfinders: Years 7 to 9
We also have Youth group on Friday evenings for teenagers, years 9-13
A non-singing, midweek communion followed by refreshments. A quieter affair than Sundays but very welcoming to all. With full covid safety measures in place, we would like to welcome you to join us for this weekly service.
First Wednesday Prayer Meeting
This meeting is currently happening both live and by Zoom, giving you a choice of options. A chance for the church to meet and pray for our work, our community, our church family, our diocese, and other current events and happenings. We start with coffee and a natter.
Gone Fishing Cafe
A weekly cafe held in the church, which is open to anybody. On hand every week are members of our Christians Against Poverty debt centre team who can spend time talking to you about debt and the work of CAP if you require it. If you would like someone to prayer with you or simply to spend a bit of time talking with you these are also possible. Otherwise, just a perfectly ordinary, rather friendly
Our youth group meets every Friday evening, between 7- 8:30 in the St John's Schoolrooms, where they have a mixed programme of fun and challenging Bible study as well as a whole range of mixed activities with our youth team, such as Chip Shop Challenge, Giant Hungry Hippos and Youth's Got Talent.
For those in the school years 7-13.
This group doesn't meet in school holidays.
This year we will be having 2 outdoor carol services, outside the front of the church on 'the beach' area, so that all will feel comfortable to come along for some excellent singing and Christmas worship. Both services will start at 4pm and we really look forward to welcoming you to one...or even both if you are really really keen on carols! And hopefully this year we won't need the brollies.
In people's homes
In St John's we have about 14 fellowship groups. These are midweek groups, meeting twice a month on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday, both during the day and in the evening.
The groups meet in the host’s homes, all of which are situated primarily in Yeovil, but with a couple in Sherborne.
Our fellowship groups exist for three principal purposes:
- To study the Bible together in a small group
- To support one another in prayer
- To develop deeper Christian friendships
