On Saturday 13th September, as part of Heritage Open Days, at the magnificent medieval parish church of St Cuthbert there will be a rare opportunity to hear the fascinating story of the lost and found 15th century painted statues; and to see some of these unique survivors. The trail moves on to Wells Cathedral where there will be tours of the stone carvings revealing both the skill and the humour of the craftsmen.
At St Cuthbert's there will also be a stonemason demonstrating the almost unchanged skills of carving.
Throughout the day visitors will be able to get up close and personal with some carvings in displays at the museum.
At St Cuthbert's, children can enjoy some stone painting and there will be refreshments during the day including light lunches.
