Groups, Courses and Activities

The Mothers Union is a Christian Organisation. We meet in St James Church Hall on the 2nd Tuesday in the month (except August) and try to have a variety of activities and speakers each month. Our annual “regulars” are our AGM in January, our outing in June, our Strawberry Fair in July and our Christmas Party in December. A current programme of our meetings can be obtained from MU members or on the stand in Church. You do not have to be a regular member of St James Church but it is preferable that you do attend a Church of another denomination. If you know someone who is a member of our Branch or merely want to visit to meet us please do come along to one of our meetings. We don’t bite, and you never know, you may get to like us! We would particularly welcome some of you younger mums with your fresh ideas – you don’t have to be grandmother age to join us, we were young once!

PLAY AND PRAISE GROUP
This group is organised by St James Mothers Union. Our helpers are all members and have all been DBS checked. The group meets every Wednesday morning from 10.30am to 12.15 pm in our Church Hall, and is for babies and toddlers up to the age of 5, accompanied by mum and/or dad, grandparent(s), or carer. Come along and have a chat to other mums. We have lots of toys for all ages, with a carpeted area for the babies to play on.
We have a singing and action rhymes session just before we have our tea, toast and biscuits. We end our meetings with the children (and mums too) marching round playing our various assortment of musical instruments.

Every Wednesday during term time
5pm – 6pm in St James’ Church Hall, Church Lane, Wrightington.
Contact Sarah O’Neill on 07480 350850 or register your interest on the Girl Guiding website.
Rainbows are girls aged 5-7. Our Unit does lots of craft activities often based on calendar events. We play lots of traditional games and the girls love to sing songs.
