On Candlemas it is a tradition for Christians to bring their candles to their local church, where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year. These blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who is the Light of the World. If you are attending church, you are invited to bring one candle from your home, perhaps the one you use for private prayer, and it will be blessed. As you leave church today, you will be given a lighted candle, a symbol, taking the Light and Love of Jesus Christ with you and to others.
There will be a 5 week Lent course ‘Journey to Freedom’ along with Lent Devotional readings. Both will focus on the book of Exodus. Full details of our Lent programme, and church services will be published early February.
