In his letter, he says: "It has been wonderful to see the huge increase in the amount of money that has been raised for the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal in recent years. Last year we donated over £23,000 to support primary schools and a women’s literacy programme in our link Diocese of Multan in Pakistan. This year I want to encourage you to support a range of projects in another of our link Dioceses, the Free State in South Africa."
Bishop Philip goes on to say that Bishop Dintoe, Bishop of the Free State, has identified some priorities which our appeal can support. These are:
· Training and formation of vocation candidates and clergy
· Developing ministry to boys and young men
· Assisting the Mothers' Union and the Diocesan Gender Coordinator in Gender Based Violence workshops.
· Carrying out of environmental workshops to help safeguard the sanctity of the earth.
He goes on to say: "To help publicise the Harvest Appeal, on October 17th I am going to go on a pedal-along in which I will visit and pray in one school or church in every single one of our 14 Deaneries.
