Ensuring that St Mary's is still in existence for another 100 years

News_about_our_building

St Mary's raises all of its money from members of the congregation, local people and fund raising events.  This money is spent on the costs of a vicar (we share these costs with two other churches), a very small proportion on central diocesan costs such as child protection, and a large amount on maintaining our lovely Victorian church building.

None of the money that we raise goes to the central Church of England, which is a question that I'm often asked.  We do receive non financial support from the CoE, and are very grateful to have received a one off contribution to help with increased energy costs.

The best way that you can support the only remaining church in Trawden is by signing up to the Parish Giving Scheme and donating whatever you can afford every month.  If you don't feel able to do this and attend a church service, or visit on a Thursday when the church is open, you can give a contactless donation on the CollecTin located near the entrance doors.  Alternatively cash is always welcome either in the glass jar or on the collection plate.

We can claim an extra 25% of your donation from the tax man if you use Parish Giving Scheme and are a UK tax payer, but also for contactless and cash donations.

Recently we have undertaken major repairs to our roof, replastered some ceilings that were falling down, replaced some rotten windows and removed some trees that were either rotten or causing damage to the church,  Further expensive work in the near future is required to our lovely stained glass windows and to repointing to stop some penetrating damp.  However we need to raise more money for this work.

Please help.  Any questions please contact Paul Wilson on 07950 316879 or [email protected] or one of the church wardens.
