Stations of the cross is an ancient devotion where we walk with Jesus through the events of Good Friday on the way to the cross. The devotional exercise of visiting and praying in front of each of the 14 stations and meditating on the Passion of Christ stems from the practice of early Christian pilgrims who visited the scenes of the events in Jerusalem and walked the traditional route from the supposed location of Pilate’s house to Calvary. Tradition holds that Mary, the mother of Jesus, set up stone markers at her home outside Jerusalem to prayerfully retrace the steps of her son’s Passion, but the origin of the devotion in its present form is not clear.

Each week we will be following a different reflection giving us the perception from a range of different people.

Christ Church, Carnforth

God’s people at Christ Church are a family. A welcoming, warm, friendly, and supportive family.

We rejoice in our being a family made up of all ages, and enjoy a whole host of gatherings and events throughout the year. Two words which say much about Christ Church are: Warmth and JOY! Christ Church is a lively place, celebrating the Joy which we find in Jesus Christ, and the warmth that we find in one another.

The parish is extremely  fortunate in having its own Church Voluntary Aided Primary School which is just next door to the church, a distance which means children and staff can enjoy a walk to the church for services as well as the Parish priest, Fr Ryan, leading weekly acts of worship at the school.

The worshipping congregation at Christ Church is committed to serving God in this place and, in part, this happens through the events we hold and a genuine desire to invite others into the blessings we, ourselves, are receiving. You are very welcome.
