Today we’re delighted to welcome Dorothy Greene’s family to church. It is the anniversary of Dorothy’s husband Bill’s passing and the family have come together to remember him and to give thanks to God for his life.

Harvest 2024: Sunday 13th October. Items of chocolate, wines, spirits, household goods etc together with tinned and dried foods may still be delivered to the Vicar’s Vestry. Many thanks. Please also sign up at the back of church if you are able to bring anything to the Harvest Jacob’s Join lunch!

Bishop’s Harvest Appeal: In July, we were privileged to have a visit to Blackburn Diocese from Bishop Leo Rodrick, the Bishop of Multan in central Pakistan. The Diocese of Multan is made up of 75 parishes with 52 priests and a number of church primary schools. Islam is the predominant religion (98.99%) with Christians making up 0.86%. Christians are free to worship and Bishop Leo reports that churches are growing. He asks us to pray for the security of Christians.

One of the priorities of the Multan diocese is to improve the low levels of literacy that exist especially for women and children. The Harvest Appeal, this year, will go towards a literacy programme to assist in this important aim. Last year St Nic’s sent an amazing £525 to the Bishop’s appeal. Let’s see if we can top it this year! There are envelopes at the back of church clearly marked ‘Bishop’s Appeal’ which can be placed in the same box as the raffle ticket stubs. Grateful thanks.

Old spectacles: Do you have any old pairs of glasses lying around at home? Pop them in the box at the back of church and we’ll send them to Gambia where they are so desperately needed.

Please remember in your prayers: Jeff Chambers, Katie, Brian Brown, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, Karen, Jean Atkinson and Elaine Clarke. And we remember the families of, Ramona Leek, Alwyne Thwaites and Nena White whose funerals are due to take place.
