Elsie Matthias: Following a short stay in hospital, lovely Elsie returned to her heavenly home on Monday 7th October, two days after her 93rd birthday. Though we are sad we take comfort knowing that ‘God has given us living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.’ (1Peter 1:3). Please remember Gerald and the family in your prayers at this time. Funeral details will be made available in due course.
Harvest Lunch and Auction: Today after the 10.45 service we will have our traditional Jacobs’ Join lunch followed by the grand auction. Everyone is welcome, whether you’ve brought something to share or not. Money raised from the auction will go to the Bishop’s Harvest appeal and the dried goods and tins etc will go to Streetlife, a charity for homeless young people. The card machine will be available at the auction for those who prefer plastic to cash! It’s sure to be a fun afternoon of food, friendship and laughter.
New toilet in church: This week has seen the installation of a new, accessible toilet in church. We are eternally grateful to Alan Newton who researched, instigated and made this happen. We are also grateful to Dan Nugent and his team from Nugent Joiners & Builders who have carried out the work to an excellent standard and at a very fair price.
Please remember in your prayers: Jeff Chambers, Katie, Brian Brown, Mark Price, Debbie, Michael Carthy, Rev Jane Everett, Paul Sumner, Sandra Pratt, Michael, Karen, Jean Atkinson, Chris Kelsall, Maurice Larsen and Elaine Clarke. And we remember the families Elsie Matthias and Maurice Roberts whose funerals are due to take place.
Father, as we celebrate this season of thanksgiving, we give thanks for the blessings of food, provision and nourishment. Please grow in us a harvest for the world.
Come sow a seed of hope within our souls Lord, that we might yield goodness, patience
and kindness in abundance. Sow a seed of peace in our lives Lord,
that we might bear the fruits of forgiveness, compassion and righteousness.
Come sow a seed of love in our hearts Lord, that others would reap the blessings
of family, friendship and community.
May each seed of hope, peace and love grow within us into a harvest that can be feasted on by all.
Old spectacles: Do you have any old pairs of glasses lying around at home? Pop them in the box at the back of church and we’ll send them to Gambia where they are so desperately needed.
