Harvest Ceilidh: Still chance for you and your friends to join us for an evening of music, laughter, and dancing with the brilliant Still Reeling Ceilidh & Barn Dance Band. Saturday 11th October, 7 pm. Tickets £10 (including fish & chip supper) — available from Alan and Karen.
Harvest Festival: Will take place in church on 12th October, two weeks today! Items of chocolate, wines, spirits, household goods etc. together with tinned and dried foods can be delivered to the Vicar’s Vestry. Please also sign up at the back of church today if you are able to bring anything to the Harvest Jacob’s Join lunch which will take place immediately after the 10.45 service. The afternoon will include our famous auction and Harvest fun.
The Bishop’s Harvest Appeal 2025: It is widely believed that the link between Blackburn Diocese and the Free State in South Africa is the oldest such link in the Anglican Communion. This year, for our Bishop’s Harvest Appeal, we are encouraged to support a number of their projects. Bishop Dintoe, Bishop of the Free State, has identified some priorities. These are: Training and formation of vocation candidates and clergy; Developing ministry to boys and young men; Assisting the Mothers' Union and the Diocesan Gender Coordinator in Gender Based Violence workshops; & Carrying out of environmental workshops in safeguarding the sanctity of the earth.
We will donate the funds raised at our Harvest auction, together with any personal financial donations, which can be made using the ‘Harvest’ envelopes at the back of church. Any cheques are to be made payable to 'Blackburn Diocesan Board of Finance Limited (Diocese Harvest Appeal).’ Many thanks.
Christmas decorations and crafts: This year at the Christmas Fair, St Nic’s will be introducing two brand-new stalls: One selling good-quality Christmas decorations and One offering homemade Christmas crafts and gifts
If you have any decorations, you’d be happy to donate, please set them aside—we’ll let you know when to bring them in closer to the event. Let’s get creative and make our stalls stand out this year!
Prayers: Please pray for our Youth Pastor position and pray that God will grant us right discernment at the interview stage.
Please also pray for, Brian Brown, Chris Kelsall, Harvey Stansfield, Sandra Foulkes, Maureen Baines, Hannah, Keith, Carol Walters, Gloria Hitch and Sarah Taylor. We also remember Denise Cockshott whose funeral is due to take place.
