Harvest Lunch and Auction: A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make our Harvest celebrations so special this year — from setting up tables to donating produce, providing dishes for the Jacob’s Join and clearing up, bidding or simply joining in the fun! It was a wonderfully busy weekend, full of community spirit and gratitude, and well worth every moment.
There’s still time to contribute to the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal if you haven’t yet had the chance. We’ll share the total amount raised next week — stay tuned!
Youth Pastor: We are delighted to announce that after much prayer and tireless work behind the scenes it looks like we have filled this post! Safer recruitment and employment checks have commenced and we’re aiming for a start date of 1st December. Thank you for your prayers.
Christmas Fair: With the harvest season behind us, it’s time to turn our eyes (and hearts!) toward Christmas! This year’s Christmas Fair promises to be as joyful as ever, with a wonderful array of community stallholders returning to share their treasures. We’re especially excited to introduce two brand-new St Nic’s stalls — one brimming with beautiful, high-quality Christmas decorations, and another showcasing handcrafted gifts and homemade festive creations. These items together with donations of luxury food items, bottles for the tombola, chocolates and gifts etc can be dropped off in the vestry at your convenience.
Fragile Peace: For over two years, violence between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has led to massive humanitarian suffering and widespread displacement. The current move toward peace is tentative but promising. It shows what can happen when many international actors converge on a plan and when both sides have strong incentives to agree (Israel for security, Gaza for relief). Yet trust is thin, scars are deep, and any peace will rely heavily on implementation. For now, we join with the rest of the world as we wait and watch with cautious hope.
God of mercy and compassion, we lift our hearts for all who have suffered in this long conflict.
Grant wisdom to leaders, courage to peacemakers and comfort to families who mourn and rebuild.Let the fragile steps toward peace grow stronger each day. May trust replace fear and hope overcome despair. Bless this land and all who dwell within it— that swords may be turned to ploughshares and every child may sleep beneath a quiet sky. Amen.
Prayers: Please also pray for, Brian Brown, Chris Kelsall, Harvey Stansfield, Revd Jim Williams, Sandra Foulkes, Maureen Baines, Hannah, Carol Walters, Muriel, and Sarah Taylor. We also remember Lesley Holmes and Gloria Hitch whose funerals are due to take place.
