Safeguarding Sunday: Today we pause to reflect on our shared responsibility to create a safe, nurturing environment for everyone—especially children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a moment for our whole church family to come together in prayer, learning and renewed commitment. Safeguarding is far more than policies or procedures; it’s a practical expression of God’s love. Jesus welcomed the vulnerable and called us to care for one another with compassion and integrity. By observing this day, we are reaffirming our desire to follow His example.Safeguarding Sunday also raises awareness of the training, vigilance and good listening that help keep people safe. It honours those who work—often quietly—behind the scenes to make St Nic’s a secure and welcoming place for worship and community.
Most of all, it encourages us to keep improving and to remain a church where everyone is valued, heard and protected. We are deeply grateful for Chris Butler, our Safeguarding Officer and for a PCC that fully supports the Church of England’s safeguarding guidance. A safe church is a welcoming church—and caring for one another is central to sharing the love of Christ.
Loving God, we thank You for our church family and for the call to care for one another
with compassion and integrity. Help us to create a place where all—especially the vulnerable
feel safe, valued and heard.
Bless those who work faithfully to protect and support our community,
especially Chris our Safeguarding Officer and guide our PCC in wisdom and dedication.
Give us open hearts, attentive ears and the courage to speak up when something is not right.
May St Nic’s always be a welcoming, safe haven where Your love is known and shared. Amen.Save the date! Join us on Sunday 7th December at 10.45am for our celebration of St Nicholas’ Patronal Festival. We are delighted to welcome Bishop Philip, who will be preaching and presiding at this special service. This joyful occasion is one of the highlights of our church year and we hope it will be made even brighter by wonderful news from our Christmas Fair the day before. Let’s fill the church and celebrate together on the 7th!
Prayers: Please also pray for, Brian Brown, Harvey Stansfield, Hannah, Carol Walters, Muriel, Ruth, Debbie, Joyce Bussell, Maureen Hardman, Paul Gosling and Sarah Taylor. We also remember Ron Jarrett and Maureen Baines whose funerals are due to take place.
