Brian Brown’s Funeral: Will take place at Carleton on Wednesday, 21st January at 2:45 pm.
When Brian was well enough, he was a cherished member of our Tuesday congregation and was confirmed just last March at St Nic’s. It would mean a great deal to have members of his church family present to honour and celebrate his life. If you are planning to attend, please let us know — and let’s organise some lifts so that everyone who wishes to be there can be.

Prayer in the East Transept: We know prayer changes people and outcomes! We offer private prayer immediately after the 10.45 service for anyone who wishes to be prayed for or with. You may request prayers for yourself; someone you care for or a particular situation. Please go to east transept, (where the memorial book is), where the prayers will be offered. Anything shared will be in utter confidence. There is immense power in prayer. Jesus tells us that with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can do great things as He did. “And this is the boldness we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14

New year, new peace? As we step into a new year, we do so with both hope and heaviness. Our world continues to ache under the strain of conflict—in the United States, in Ukraine, in Gaza and in so many places both seen and unseen. Yet even in the midst of uncertainty and sorrow, we hold fast to the promise that God is near to the broken hearted and present in every corner of the world. May this be a year in which we commit ourselves anew to prayer, to compassion and to the quiet, courageous work of peace. Let us remember that Christ’s light is not dimmed by darkness and through His love we are called to be instruments of healing and hope wherever we are placed.

God of mercy and peace, we lift before You all places burdened by conflict, division and suffering. Hold close those living in fear, comfort those who mourn and guide leaders toward justice and reconciliation. Strengthen our hearts to be bearers of Your light in a troubled world and grant us the courage to love as You love.  In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Prayers: Please also pray for, Martyn Westby, Harvey Stansfield, Hannah, Carol Walters, Muriel, Helen Willott, Paul Sumner, Carol Newton, Debbie and Maureen Hardman. We also remember the lives and families of Brian Brown, Hidy Cartmel, Jack Briggs, Mary Kilburn and Peter Dixon whose funerals are due to take place.
