Brian Brown’s Funeral: Please see the Vicar today if you are planning to attend Brian’s funeral and need a lift. Hiddy Cartmell’s funeral is arranged for 1 pm on Monday 26th of January and will take place at St Paul’s Church, Egerton Road in Blackpool. Rev’d Carolyn is taking the service.

Thursday Coffee and Lunch: Our Community Coffee Morning is getting an extended run this week — we’ll be open right through to 12:30 pm! Alongside our usual treats, we’ll also be serving homemade soup to keep you warm and well-fed. Why not drop in, relax and bring a couple of friends along? There’s no charge — just good company, friendly faces and a warm welcome waiting for you.

We are now in the season of Epiphany, a time that reminds us how Christ is revealed to the world. The Baptism of Jesus shows us who he truly is. Last Sunday, we reflected on the Magi, who recognised Jesus as King and on Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan—where the heavens opened, the Spirit descended like a dove and God declared, “This is my Son, the Beloved.”

This week, the baptism of Jesus returns in our readings, but this time through the apostle John, who recounts the testimony of John the Baptist. We are reminded again that both the Epiphany and the baptism of Christ reveal Jesus not only as friend and teacher, but as God made present among us. His baptism also calls us to remember our own—that we, too, are God’s beloved children, invited to seek and serve Christ in all people.

Even when God feels distant, we are called to carry the light of Christ into places of need, discomfort and hope. Our prayer for this season is that, just as the Magi were changed by encountering Jesus, we may also meet him anew—through Scripture, through prayer and through one another—so that we may be led to live differently and shine his light wherever we go.

Prayers: Please pray for Dorothy Angel, Harvey Stansfield, Hannah, Carol Walters, Muriel, Helen Willott, Paul Sumner, Carol Newton, Debbie and Maureen Hardman. We also remember the lives and families of Brian Brown, Hidy Cartmel, Jack Briggs, Mary Kilburn, Martyn Westby, Mildred Ross, David Morley, Patricia Kettle and Peter Dixon whose funerals are due to take place.
