Easter Day: Join us for a joyful Easter Day! Following the Easter Eucharist at 10.45am, we’ll continue the celebrations in the Broadway Rooms with a wonderful Jacob’s Join lunch, a fabulous Easter Bonnet Parade and a fun-filled quiz for all ages.
Please add your name to the sign-up sheet at the back of church if you’re coming for lunch — and if you’re able to bring something to share for the buffet, do pop that down too. Your contributions help make the table truly special! It’s always such a lovely day to relax together, welcome new faces and enjoy good food and great company. We would love you to be part of it — and don’t forget to start designing your Easter bonnet! Come and celebrate the joy of Easter with us!
Help needed: Do you have a couple of spare hours each week during term time? One of our local schools has reached out to St Nic’s with a simple but powerful request: volunteers to serve as Reading Companions. This involves sitting alongside a child as they read—offering encouragement, a listening ear and a little boost of confidence. It’s a small commitment that can make a big difference in a young person’s life. Many who have done it describe it as deeply rewarding and a wonderful way to support children in our parish community.
Please don’t assume “someone else” will step forward—you could be exactly who a child needs. If you’d like to find out more, please speak to the Vicar as soon as possible.
Lent Study 1: “Knowing Jesus” focused on the Ascension as the key to understanding who Jesus is and how we can have a personal relationship with him. Using the image of a king who leaves his palace to live among his people and then returns, it explains the Incarnation and Ascension: Jesus, fully God and fully human, comes to dwell with us, saves us through his death and resurrection and ascends to prepare a place for us, giving us both certain hope and a clear purpose through the gift of the Spirit. We are all invited not just to know about Jesus but to know him personally—by praying for the Holy Spirit, turning from sin and consciously welcoming him into their lives—so that we may live in joy and share the Good News with others. Join us this Wednesday for session 2.
Prayers: Please pray for Anthony, Jeff Chambers, Harvey Stansfield, Hannah, Carol Walters, Muriel, Paul Sumner, Debbie, Maureen Hardman, Ron & Joyce Bussell. We also remember he lives and families of, Janis Lowden, Violet Clapp, Pat Coward and Julie Travis whose funerals are due to take place.
