Church of England Diocese of Bristol Downend

Christ Church Downend

We are a lively Anglican Church which (usually) meets in two buildings - our 9.15am congregation meet at The Church Centre in Bromley Heath, and the 10.30 and 6.30 congregations meet at the Parish Church.

Due to Covid-19 we are not able to hold our normal public services of worship at this time. Our parish church remains open for private prayer Wednesday 2.30-4.40pm and Sundays 7-9pm with Compline said at 8pm. We are hoping to open for socially distanced Sunday morning services with limited numbers present from Sunday July 19th. We may be doing church differently, but we are still here for our community. Please follow our website or Facebook pages for updates on the new ways we are finding to be church in difficult circumstances.

The parish of Downend is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Bristol’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services
