Welcome to the Parish of St. Martin & St. Paul, Canterbury
We are called to worship God in Jesus Christ and to make Christ known in our community.
We do not have all the answers. We are on a spiritual journey. We look to scripture, reason and tradition to help us on our way. Whoever you are, we offer a space for you to draw nearer to God and walk with us.
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
Our Parish consists of two Inclusive Churches in the Eucharistic tradition within the City of Canterbury, Kent.
St. Martin's Church is England's oldest Parish church and part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site. St. Augustine visited our church in 597 to begin the mission authorised by Pope Gregory the Great. The church is open for pilgrims and prayer each week - see our website for opening times.
St. Paul's (Without the Walls) is a church dates from Norman times and is very close to the city centre. St Paul's shares its location with the Parish Centre, built in 2005. The interior of the church underwent a major refurbishment which was completed in April 2013. The church is used regularly by the parish and community groups throughout the week and open most days for prayer and reflection.
Together we continue our mission to live out the Gospel in thought, word and deed.
Our churches stand in the centre of the Inclusive, Anglican tradition; we have an enthusiastic choir (new members welcome) and a lively Sunday Zone for children which meets at St. Paul's at 10.30 am in term time.
In addition to this, we offer a mix of worship including:
-an evening service of Quiet Prayers and Contemplation at St Martin's (1st Sunday in the month)
-an afternoon informal Teatime service for young people at St Paul's (2nd Sunday in the month)
-an Evensong and Supper service once a month on a Sunday evening at St Paul's (3rd Sunday in the Month).
-an informal Messy Church in the Spring Lane Neighbourhood Centre (as advertised)
Please see this or our website for more details, contacts and service times!
We are part of the Inclusive Church Network (www.inclusive-church.org)
