About Us

S.Michael's was built about 1160, enlarged during the 13th century and again in 1881. Today it serves a widespread parish of some 7,000 souls.

The Mission Church of S.Gabriel's was built about 115 years ago to serve the part of the parish known as Rough Common. Initially due to COVID-19 restrictions but now due to attendance and financial reasons, services are not currently being held at S.Gabriel’s.

The tradition at S.Michael's is Anglo-Catholic with a predominantly Eucharistic pattern of worship. It is a parish of The Society of Ss Wilfrid & Hilda under the pastoral episcopal care of the Bishop of Richborough and served by clergy of The Society of the Holy Cross (SSC).

You will find S.Michael's Church open virtually every Saturday, from after the morning service until early afternoon - if you'd like to call in, you can be assured of a warm welcome (and if you time it right, a cup of coffee with biscuits as well!). The Rector is usually available at this time, too, as "Office Hour" (a time for discussing Marriages, Baptisms, Confessions & etc.) takes place from 10:30 a.m.

Our Church Hall is available for lettings. It now has a good-sized kitchen with catering facilities, a shower room, and a disabled access toilet with baby changing facility. Letting rates are reviewed annually, with there being a lower rate for regular bookings - to enquiries and further information, please call 07942 749220.
