In a departure from the usual Sunday afternoon timing, our next Charlton Fine Arts recital will take place on the evening of Saturday 21st June at 7pm when we invite you to join us for a programme of 'Cool Classics for Midsummer'. In this recital Kent-based operatic soprano Sophie Radley accompanied at the organ and piano by Richard Davies will showcase some of the best-known pieces in the repertoire. The programme features Mozart's dramatic motet 'Exsultate Jubilate' concluding with the famous 'Alleluia' alongside classics such as the Gounod and Schubert settings of 'Ave Maria' together with favourite arias from Handel's 'Messiah' including 'I know that my Redeemer liveth'. There will also be a selection of pieces from early Italian opera and in between the vocal groups Richard will play organ pieces by J S Bach, Alain and Scarlatti.

We hope you will be able to join us for this concert as a celebration of fine music in the magnificent acoustics of Charlton at midsummer!

Charlton Church

Welcome to St Peter and St Paul's, known as Charlton Church. We are a friendly and active church, providing four services each week and twice-monthly special services for families. Our beautiful church, 'the cathedral of Dover', plays an important role in our community through outreach and through social and cultural events. Whether you have religious faith or not, wish to learn about Christianity, try church or find a place where there is friendship and support, Charlton Church has something for you. Do get in touch or just come along to one of our services or social events. You will find more details on our website.

VACANCY!

CAN YOU WRITE, TYPE AND EMAIL?

NEEDED! SOMEBODY TO TAKE THE MINUTES AT PCC MEETINGS!

A few times a year, the church council (PCC) meets on a Sunday morning to discuss things.

Our secretary has resigned after 25 years, so now we’re seeking a volunteer to take on this role.

Initially, we need somebody simply to take notes of what’s said, type up the Minutes and send them to our lovely priest, Revd Melissa Carter.

The next meeting is in January.

If you have spare time and would like to help your local church in this key role as a volunteer, please get in touch with Camilla. 07578 220209
