A member of St Philip's tells how they prayed and Jesus answered...
Back in 2012 I was part of a church group that met in a school in Ramsgate. One Sunday morning, as the service was about to start, I noticed one of the group was hanging around outside and not going into the hall for the opening worship-music part of the service.
I asked him if he was alright. “I’ve got this terrible knife-like pain in my ears”, he said. “I’ve had it for ten years and I’ll have it for another ten years”. I told him not to say that and offered to pray for him.
I mention at this point that whilst this guy was currently a genial and jovial chap, in a former part of his life he had been an enforcer in gangland London, and was then described as ‘an animal’. He was a big guy and if you bumped into him you would literally bounce off him.
“Go on then”, he said to me, “Get on with it”. I put my fingers on his ears and prayed in English, and then in the Spirit. I then went into the hall for the music, which he always avoided due to the loudness of the guitars and drums. He said he would join us later.
I did indeed see him come in a little later, during the music, despite the whistling feedback and distortion of the microphones, which seemed to me to be worse than normal that day. I looked across and he appeared to be wincing.
After the service he came up behind me in the queue for coffee, put his hand on my shoulder, and told me that the pain had gone and that he was healed as I prayed for him. Thank you Jesus.
The following Sunday he stood before the group and told everybody about the freedom he now felt from the pain, and how he had been crying during the previous week’s service during the music, thanking his Saviour, Jesus.
