A member of St Philip's remembers their experience of answered prayer...At the age of twenty-one, in 1984, I got my first job and was earning my own money. This was in Stoke Newington town hall in north London. Six months after starting work, an amazing thing happened. Well I think it was amazing anyway. All through my life I’d suffered with nose bleeds. My earliest childhood memory, from when I was about six, was waking up with a nose bleed. My nose bled all day, and when I went to sleep it was still bleeding onto my pillow. And as I grew up, my nose would bleed so easily. I might just sniff and it would start. And once started, it would take about half an hour for the bleeding to stop. And the previous Christmas, in 1984, my nose had started to bleed from both sides at the same time, which scared me. Anyway, I’d been at my new job about six months. It was a lovely summer’s day and then ‘drat’, I felt my nose begin to bleed. I quickly went to the toilets and started squeezing damp tissues against my nose to try and stop the blood. I suddenly felt scared. I don’t know why. I just called out, “Father !” And the bleeding stopped. I could hardly believe it. I waited and waited. No blood. Wow. Since that day, I’ve not had any of those nosebleeds. And that was over forty-two years ago now.
A member of St Philip's introduces their books...First up, "Illustration and Analogies" consists of examples from everyday life to answer people's questions about God that they've asked. See 'Thought for the day' on the 'Services and events' page for this.Second, "Did you hear the one about the dog that had kittens?" is a humorous? takedown of the theory of evolution.Third is "It's All About Dad", a Spirit-led story, as the author just sat with pen and paper and waited for the Spirit to give them the words. And fourth is a super-expanded translation of twelve books of the New Testament. "Letters from John, Paul, and Peter" uses Kenneth Wuest's translation and his word studies, adapted to make a hopefully readable and also close-to-the-original-Greek version of said books. And there's no chapter and verse numbers (again trying to be faithful to the original intent). The Afterword, the Version 3 bit, has been found to be powerful and life-changing. See Victorious living, PDF on the 'Daily meditations' page for this. (This book has also been broken down into ten individual books e.g. "Romans - a Bible translation of a letter from Paul".)
