Daily Scripture & Reflection

Daily Scripture:

the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says,

“Heaven is my throne,

and the earth is my footstool.

What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,

or what is the place of my rest?

Did not my hand make all these things?” (Acts 7.48-50)

Daily Reflection:

‘What kind of house will you build?’ We have inherited so many wonderful buildings, from humble chapels to vast cathedrals; we have a hugely valuable legacy of historic parish churches; we each have our own special sacred places. But none of them house God, they can never be more than somewhere not for him but for us, where we may experience the presence of the God who is with us at all times and in all places. St Paul wrote ‘you are God’s temple and the Holy Spirit dwells in you’. What kind of temple am I building?
