Welcome to St Michael & All Angels, Hartlip

A village church with a warm heart and an open door.

In the heart of the beautiful village of Hartlip, beside the village school on The Street, stands St Michael & All Angels, a church that has been part of village life for centuries.

Our historic building is a place of worship, prayer and quiet reflection, but it is also a place where friendships are made, neighbours come together, and the joys and sorrows of life are shared.

We are a small, friendly congregation, part of The Six Benefice in North Kent, and we believe that the heart of a church is found not simply in its building or its Sunday services, but in the love, kindness and friendship it brings to the wider community.

There’s much more to life at Hartlip Church than Sunday worship!

Throughout the year, we organise a variety of activities and gatherings, and everyone is welcome, whether or not they normally attend church.

• Coffee Mornings – On the first and third Wednesday of every month, from 10.30am to midday. Drop in for a cup of coffee, a friendly conversation and a chance to catch up with neighbours and friends.
• Churchyard Afternoon Teas – On the first Sunday of each month, from May to September, between 3pm and 5pm. Enjoy delicious homemade cakes and refreshments in the peaceful surroundings of our beautiful churchyard, with its lovely views across the surrounding countryside. A favourite summer gathering for villagers and visitors alike.
• PIMS – Our late-summer community event, bringing people together for an enjoyable occasion filled with friendship and village spirit.
• September Serenade – A celebration of singing, bringing people together through the joy of music.
• The Heart of the Matter – Our annual spring gathering for thoughtful conversation and lively debate about topical issues that affect our lives and the wider world. A chance to listen, question and explore different perspectives.
• Christmas Carols at the Rose & Crown – A much-loved opportunity to come together in our village pub, sing familiar carols and share in the warmth and joy of Christmas.

At the centre of our life together is our Christian faith. We seek to follow the example of Jesus by offering friendship, hospitality and practical kindness, and by being a caring presence in the village.

Our Sunday services offer opportunities for worship, prayer, reflection and discovering more about the Christian faith. Whether you are a lifelong churchgoer, returning after many years, exploring faith for the first time, or simply curious, you will find a welcome here.

And if Sunday worship isn’t for you, that’s absolutely fine too. Come along to a coffee morning, enjoy a summer afternoon tea, or join us at one of our village events. There is no expectation or obligation, just the pleasure of being together.
