About Us

Built as a daughter church to St. Mary's Thornthwaite. St. Herbert's (named after the local hermit saint who lived on an island on Derwent Water. He was also a friend of St. Cuthbert)was built in 1900 and a useful hall with kitchen was built on in 1980. At the heart of the village community and next to the Church of England Primary School.

Sunday worship is at St. Herbert's, Braithwaite on 1st (9.00am) and 3rd (10.00am) Sundays in month and at St. Mary's Thornthwaite on 2nd (10.00am) and 4th (9.00am) Sundays. No regular service on 5th Sunday. Messy Church on the last Sunday of each month at 4.00pm at St. Herbert's, Braithwaite (not in holidays).
