About Us

St Michael’s began life as a WW1 army hut and was lovingly cared for by the local community over the years.

Today, St Michael’s is a beautiful Scandinavian-style wooden church, consecrated in December 2012 and built to a design shaped by the parish itself. Set in the corner of its own field and framed by towering oak trees, it’s a peaceful, welcoming place — well worth a visit.

You’ll find St Michael’s and All Angels’ Church on St Michael’s Road, Daws Heath, surrounded by Green Belt land and at the heart of the village. Our field is part of the Essex Wildlife Trust’s “Belfairs & Daws Heath Living Landscape”, with a network of woodland walks that make the area feel wonderfully quiet and restorative.

We hold either Holy Communion or Morning Prayer every Sunday at 9:30am, with an additional Wednesday Morning Prayer service at 9:30am.

The church building includes an integral Community Room, used for coffee mornings and by local groups, and we also have a separate on-site Church Hall that is available for hire.
