What Sort Of Church Are We?

What sort of church are we?

A church for ordinary people, living ordinary lives, discovering an extraordinary love.

At St Barnabas, Tye Green, we believe that church should feel less like somewhere you have to fit in and more like somewhere you already belong.

We're a friendly, informal and welcoming Christian community made up of all sorts of people, of different ages, backgrounds and experiences. Some of us have been coming to church for years, others are just beginning to explore faith, and some of us are still trying to work out what we believe!

And that's absolutely fine.

We don't believe you have to have everything sorted out before you walk through the door. You don't need to know the prayers, understand the Bible or have lived a particularly saintly life. Frankly, if perfection were a requirement, most of us would be in trouble!

We believe God loves everybody. No exceptions, no small print.

Our worship is relaxed, accessible and rooted in the teachings of Jesus. We enjoy singing, praying, exploring the Bible and thinking about how faith makes a difference in everyday life. Sometimes we're thoughtful, sometimes we're lively, and there's usually a fair bit of laughter along the way.

Children are welcome, questions are encouraged, and nobody needs to worry about doing church 'properly'.

We're not a community of people who think we're better than anyone else. We're simply people learning how to love God, love our neighbours and become a little more like Jesus in the way we live.

We believe church is about much more than what happens on a Sunday. It's about friendship, kindness, supporting one another through life's ups and downs, and finding ways to make a positive difference in our community.

And whilst our building might be fairly modest, we reckon what happens inside it is pretty wonderful.

Whether you're looking for a church to call home, exploring faith for the first time, returning after years away, or simply curious about what goes on here, we'd love to meet you.

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your doubts, your hopes and your whole self.

There's room for you here.
