About Us

The congregation at St. Mark’s originated in people's homes in Beechwood West, before moving to a builders’ hut and then the Community Centre when that opened in October 1976. The membership has always been of an ecumenical nature (Church of England, Methodist and United Reformed Church) and continued to be so when the present building was opened in October 1981.

St. Mark’s Church stands in open ground just off Beechwood Avenue, next to Hillview School.  It has an adaptable worship area, but no separate space for meetings.

St. Mark’s is a welcoming congregation with an enthusiasm for singing and worship. Music is provided by a small worship group consisting of a pianist, a recorder player and a singer. A variety of modern worship songs and traditional hymns are used. Preachers are mainly from the ministry and lay local team within the Parish, although visiting preachers may occasionally lead the worship.

We meet for worship at 10.30am each Sunday for either Holy Communion or Morning Worship.

On the first Sunday of the month our Parish service takes place at 10.30am either at St Mark's or Bethesda Church which is in Palacefields

The Church of England regards St. Mark's as the Parish Church of Hallwood Ecumenical Parish.
