On Sunday 20th July at 10.30am we welcomed Bishop Julie, Bishop of Birkenhead to our Holy Communion Service which incorporated Baptisms and Confirmations. As part of the Baptism service some of the candidates were fully immersed in a pool filled with cold water, (yes it was cold) and some of the candidates were traditionally baptised by pouring the water over their head. The pool was situated on the Churches front lawn. There were 10 candidates baptised here by Bishop Julie and then back in church there were 17 candidates confirmed by Bishop Julie. Just before the service was concluded the candidates were presented with their baptism certificates, confirmation certificates and a lovely Book of Common Prayer. After the service in the Church Hall, there was lovely Bring and Share Lunch, which was provided by members of the congregation and friends to celebrate today's candidates.
IMPORTANT "On Monday 31st March at 2.00pm the PCC of St Michael & All Angels discussed the proposal given by Revd. George to move forward with Phase 1 and 2 of the reordering of the internal Pews. Phase 1 will be the removal of the rear choir pews in the chancel, only the rear ones. The central pews both Left and right will potentially be moved backwards along with the Pew frontals. This will create a wider and more versatile space without sacrificing the traditional look of the chancel. A further idea is to seek to carpet the wider area so as to protect the present Mosaic for the future. Phase 2 will be removal and recycling of the pews in the North Aisle so as to build much needed storage and add a little more aisle space. All potential works carried out will still need to be proposed to, and be under the guidance of the DiocesanAdvisory Committee for the Diocese Of Chester".
