A meditative and reflective service of sung Evening Prayer, taken from the Book of Common Prayer of 1662 and the much older services of compline and vespers.

The choir is made up of singers from all over the Wirral, many of whom have sung as members of St Hilary’s choir in the past. Our organist, Glyn, was the Director of Music at St Hilary for many years and Andrew, our choirmaster has enjoyed a long association with St Hilary both as an organist and member of the congregation.

It is a real joy to be back at St Hilary singing choral evensong once again.

St Hilary’s and its nearby medieval tower are Grade II listed, marking a site of Christian worship dating back to Roman times. The current church, consecrated in 1859, is believed to be the sixth on this spot.

From Norman stonework to Tudor rebuilds and Victorian renewal, St Hilary’s has stood at the heart of Wallasey’s story for over a thousand years. Today, it remains a living church—rooted in tradition, alive with faith, love, and open to all.
