What are Praise and Play?
The Sutton St. James Pre-School visits church every second Tuesday of the month from 1:30pm - 2:30pm. The children, who are 3 & 4 years old, walk with their leaders from the centre of the village to church. Up to 24 children come along each time but this can vary as the number of children attending preschool builds up from the start of the school year in September through to July. We celebrate the main church festivals of Christmas and Easter with the children and also share stories together about Jesus, his life and the stories he told. During the time we are together the children complete a craft activity linked to our theme; We have a story time and usually finish with some songs. Sometimes we play musical instruments too! Before the children go back to preschool, we share a snack together.
What has been happening this year?
Since Christmas we have thought about giving and receiving, baptism and shared the story of the Lost Sheep. In April we looked at things that are dead or alive and how something that looks dry and dead can come to life. A bulb can grow into a beautiful flower. A tiny dry seed can grow into a flower or vegetable.
