What has been happening this year? We ring for Sunday morning service and others, as appropriate . We practice on Wednesday evenings when we teach and develop our skills. We ring for longer periods (quarter peals) sometimes, on Sunday evenings to develop our skills and to mark important milestones in the life of the nation, the church, the community or individuals . We support ringing in the local area; supporting other bands, training events, and in turn we also receive support for occasions when we do not have enough ringers. We hosted Find Out More/ Have-a-Go slots at the patronal festival and an evening for Beavers and Cubs. Frank Osbaldeston's passing marked an end of an era. Tower Captain here from 1980 to 2007, he was also a leading ringer in the region and broke records nationally. The ringers have supported his widow and ensured his contribution both here and to ground-breaking ringing developments are recorded. 2026 sees the 100th anniversary of the installation of the current bells. Plans are in discussion to mark this anniversary over the year.We are fortunate to have the skills to teach and develop the band at the moment; we need, from the church and wider community, more people coming forward to join us if we are to avoid the decline in ringing seen in other churches.
What has been happening this year? This year the Wednesday group was started and the other two groups have gone from strength to strength. Each group spends time getting to know each other as well as looking at the Bible. We have spent most of the year looking at the sermon on the mount in detail and how we can live it out today. We also completed a 5 week course looking at our SHAPE (Spiritual gifts, Heart’s desires, Abilities, Personality and Experience) and how we can use this our uniqueness for God.
What has been happening this year? In October we rebooted our Thursday activities. We now have a space for everyone in the community. We offer fairtrade tea and coffee, crumpets, tea cakes and toast. We have someone to listen to anyone who needs to chat, we have games, craft activities or sing-along songs.
